Meet Jamie Jensen, a boss entrepreneur and an extremely talented copywriter and founder of Your Hot Copy.
Before we started working together, Jamie had been contemplating whether she should make the investment in a lawyer.
Here is what Jamie had to say about making one of the best and most important investments in her business.
GL: Tell us a little about your business?
JJ: I’m a copywriter. Everything I do in my business comes down to this: I help other passionate entrepreneurs say what they mean and sound awesome doing it. Many business owners struggle with their online presence and find it hard to write with personality or conversationally, so I help them discover their writing voice and teach them how to write with ease. Or, usually, I write for them!
GL: What made you decide to hire a lawyer for your business?
JJ: I knew that my business was growing rapidly, and it was time to make things official. Because I work with so many sub-contractors and I have a big vision for where the business is going, it seemed imperative to put those legal foundations in place ASAP.
GL: Did you have any fears or doubts about hiring a lawyer?
JJ: I think it’s scary to hire a lawyer and find out you’ve been doing things “wrong” prior to hiring them! I probably avoided it for a while because of that reason. When you’re not sure where your business is going or if it’s going to be successful, it can also seem like a risky expense. But I felt 100% confident hiring Gouchev Law. Once you have a lawyer on your side, everything else feels a whole lot less scary. Because you know you’re protected!
GL: What made you go with Gouchev Law?
JJ: Jana and I have similar business values, and I knew she understood exactly what I needed. We had connected a few times already, and got along really well, so it was an easy choice for me.
GL: How has the process of working with us been so far?
JJ: Amazing. Jana’s on top of everything, and great with following up and checking in. I truly feel taken care of, and that’s appreciated. Particularly as a business owner who aims to give that same level of service and care to my clients, it’s been exceptional!
GL: What’s in store for your business in 2015?
JJ: So many things! I just started my copywriting course (Copy That) again, and I’m planning some one day workshops as well for later in the year, and for next year: retreats. I love teaching so I’m trying to do more of that wherever possible. Plus, I’m already working with so many incredible entrepreneurs one on one! 2015 is a big year!
GL: How does it feel to have a lawyer on your side?
JJ: Like a huge relief. It also makes me feel more official.
GL: What’s your advice to fellow business owners who are on the fence about hiring a business attorney?
JJ: If you’re even thinking about it, do it! It’s so much better to make sure you’re protected!
